Senior Staff Cloud Architect (Hybrid, CA based)

As the Senior Staff Cloud Architect, you will work across teams of skilled software engineers building services and web applications that support our medical devices, mobile applications, partner integrations, and data analytics. You will partner with teams, both local and abroad, to research, architect, design, prototype and guide the development of world class and data centric web services and applications software used in medical device and treatment use cases.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide technical leadership in the development of Internet-of-Things, containerized deployments, and machine learning solutions.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, lead engineers, Cloud Ops, and Cloud Security to design high-quality, performant, scalable, secure Cloud solutions
• Evaluate new technologies and explore solution alternatives; develop prototypes
• Mentor and motivate software developers to build solutions using architecture and software best practices
• Learn and follow Insulet design assurance SOPs
• Provide timely support to team customers, internal and external
• Produce and deliver software architecture documentation in accordance with industry practices

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering or other related fields
• 10+ years software development experience in a commercial product development setting
• Significant experience designing and developing Java applications that leverage AWS services
• Significant experience with multiple database types, e.g. relational, document, time-based, and best applications for each type
• Comfortable talking about technical topics with business stakeholders and business topics with technical staff. Able to express complex concepts in plain language to reach broader audiences.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:          

• Experience building solutions with MongoDB, PostgreSQL (or equivalent relational databases)
• Experience building Java solutions
• Experience building NodeJS solutions
• Experience using Python for data processing
• Experience with Spring and related technologies
• Experience deploying cloud infrastructure
• End-to-end encryption and key management experience
• Data retention best practices knowledge
• Experience in architecting systems comprising one or more of the following: RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS SQS, AWS DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, Cassandra, Kafka, Kinesis
• Diagramming: UML certification preferred, plus experience in Sequence Diagrams, Deployment Diagrams, and State Diagrams
• Networking Experience: must have strong understanding of DNS, ALB vs ELB use cases, HAProxy use cases and limitations, Firewall configuration, API gateway use cases, WAF use cases, Routing, and troubleshooting connectivity
• Ability to craft a compelling message and tailor it for a given audience. Ability to mix deep technical expertise with simple, everyday language to deliver a story that is memorable and useful.
• Experience with FDA and HIPAA regulations a plus
• Cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) Architect Certification

Physical Requirements (if applicable): 

• Occasional business travel within US and globally
• Off-hour availability for critical issues

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,050.00 - $244,575.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
