Family Support Specialist- First Teacher Home Visiting

United Ability is an organization that provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities.  We are currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Family Support Specialist providing in-home training for parents/caregivers whose children are prenatal or older until kindergarten. Collaborating with other team members, you will:

Conduct home visits using the Parent as Teachers (PAT) curriculum, this includes planning the visit, gathering materials, traveling to home, and documenting visit within required timeframe
Assists with parent group connections
Develops and maintains a community resource network to link families as needed
Assist parents/children with transition to preschool or kindergarten
Completes weekly, monthly and annual reports within required timeframe
Completes annual required training for Parents as Teachers

Applicant general qualifications include:

Bachelor of a four-year degree in Early Childhood or a related field is preferred.  It is also acceptable for a Family Support Specialist to have a two-year degree or 60 college hours in early childhood or a related field and/or supervised experience working with young children and/or parents
Family Support Specialists must attend Foundational and Model Implementation Training from Parents as Teachers upon hire
Valid State of AL driver’s license and successful completion of motor vehicle screening required
Excellent oral and written communication skills
