Manager, Software Development

 

In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of developers through the design, development, testing and deployment of key features of the product.

 

This is a dual-hat role requiring the manager to perform functional management activities as well as software development. The role of a functional manager will comprise 25% to 30% of the manager’s time. Applicants must have a strong technical background in software development including software requirements, and software design experience.

 

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the corporate functional relationships of all team members that report to you
• Leading overall delivery responsibilities and proactively working to reduce roadblocks
• Following and promoting Agile practices in the team
• Ensuring that the Software Development procedures are followed, conduct retrospectives, code reviews, etc.
• Coaching software engineers with their current responsibilities
• Design procedures to increase product reliability and test coverage.
• Make recommendations for design, process improvements, and data collection.
• Ensure consistency and quality of the product.

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a bachelor’s degree OR master’s degree in computer science or engineering.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience with all phases of the software development process
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in C/C++ or other OOP languages
• This position does not require travel.
• Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering
• Familiarity with tools like Rhino 3D
• Experience working in a DevOps culture with continuous integration / continuous deliveries
• Lead or management experience in a team environment
• Experience in Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum and test-driven approach
