Job Overview

This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on next-generation medical technologies used in life-saving procedures. As an R&D Product Development Manager, you will own innovative metal component development projects from concept through commercialization—while collaborating with talented engineers, clinicians, and industry-leading medical device partners.

If you’re driven by technical challenge, cross-functional leadership, and building products that truly improve patient outcomes, this role is for you.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a hands-on, experienced R&D leader to develop advanced metal components for medical device applications. You’ll guide projects through the full product lifecycle, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as a technical expert for both internal teams and customer partners.

Job Requirements

  • Lead full-cycle R&D activities—from requirements and design inputs to prototyping, verification, validation, and design transfer.
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure technical feasibility and scalable production.
  • Drive materials selection, tooling strategy, and process development with a focus on high-performance metals.
  • Develop DOE, & FMEA protocols for metal components and integrated assemblies.
  • Lead quoting efforts, working closely with Product Management and Sales to support proposals and early customer engagement.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation including DHFs in alignment with ISO 13485.
  • Build strong relationships with OEM customers, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians to strengthen team capability.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience developing medical device components, with emphasis on metal components.
  • Strong knowledge of metal processing, forming, and related manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven success bringing components from concept through design controls and commercialization.
  • Understanding of biocompatibility, sterilization, and mechanical performance testing.
  • Experience in catheter-based, electrophysiology, vascular access, or minimally invasive device applications is a strong plus.
  • Effective communicator with leadership presence and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Class II and III medical devices or implantable components.
  • Skilled with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab) and CAD review for tooling or component design.
  • Familiarity with DFM principles and stage-gate development processes.
