What You Will Do:
Provides technical expertise to support Area operations.
Monitors Area operations to help ensure compliance with applicable codes and Company procedures.
Monitors overall telecommunications system integrity.
Serves as the lead for the telecommunications tower maintenance program.
Compiles and analyzes budget information for Area and Region projects.
Collaborates with Corporate Telecommunications staff to plan and budget future telecommunications needs and telecommunications direction.
Assists in design reviews for O&M, Maintenance Capital, and Capital Expansion projects.
Conducts investigations and evaluations involving failures, problems, and maintenance practices.
Serves as the lead in the management of Region Transmission Telecommunications projects, when required.
Travels overnight up to 40%.
Provides expertise on Company owned and third-party leased communications equipment for Company and deliver/receipt Customer facilities.
Travels to field locations to inspect equipment condition, troubleshoot issues, and assist with startup of replacement or new equipment.
Serves as liaison between field operations, Region management, TIS, Measurement Integrity for troubleshooting and resolving issues during power/communication outages, emergency responses, and start up of new assets.
Provides technical expertise and recommendations for capital and O&M expenditures to supervisors and/or field operations for field upgrades including, but not limited to, radio, VSAT, fiber networks, and ancillary components (switches, routers, UPS systems, backup generators, and other hardware).
Maintains field network equipment (radio, VSAT, fiber, routers, switches, etc.) independently, with assistance from field technicians, or contractors as required.
Provides technical expertise and guidance to the area Maintenance Technicians.
Communicates (on a regular basis) with IT regarding network projects, upgrades, and outages.
Provide periodic communication (project updates, material specifications and approvals) to Projects team and Region Technical Staff.
Regularly (weekly to daily) communicates verbally, and in written form to field and region leadership regarding issues, upcoming projects, and compliance due dates.
Area of responsibility: Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina
Other duties as assigned.
Required:
Related Associate Degree and 2 years of related experience OR six‐plus years of previous related experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
Currently reside or are willing to relocate within 30 miles of assigned location.
A valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, on call and standby as required.
Desired:
Well versed in Company Policy and Procedures in order to provide Region Technical support.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or with little supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of communications services (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, etc.).
Working knowledge of legacy and Cisco IP phone systems.
Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and access points.
Working knowledge of Nokia/Alcatel microwave radio systems.
