The Vice President Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement leads the advancement of Empower’s global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) strategy, alongside integrated Community Engagement initiatives to drive internal and external impact.

As a senior leader and culture champion, the VP Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement collaborates across departments to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued, inclusive practices are standard, and community engagement strategically drives organizational culture and community impact.

What you will do

Strategic Leadership and Inclusiveness

  • Lead enterprise-wide DEIB and Community Engagement strategy in alignment with Empower’s values and emerging political perspectives.

  • Chair the DEIB Council, composed of cross-functional enterprise leaders.

  • Align DEIB programs to strengthen an inclusive culture and deepen organizational engagement.

  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on embedding belonging, accessibility, and community engagement throughout all business functions.

Program Management and Collaboration

  • Oversee and scale Business Resource Groups (BRGs) to enhance inclusion, visibility, and community across the organization.

  • Partner with Talent Management to design and provide DEIB learning opportunities.

  • Consult with Talent Management to ensure learning and development programs, including nomination and selection processes, are designed to support broad engagement and representation across the organization.

  • Ensure programs initiated or managed within the Diversity Inclusion and Community Engagement function are aligned with enterprise Talent Management practices, including clear purpose, participant selection, and integration with broader leadership and development efforts.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to expand varied hiring pipelines and optimize external talent partnerships.

  • Lead our Associates.Community.Together (ACT) program, facilitating high-impact community engagement opportunities and employee involvement initiatives.

Community Engagement Leadership

  • Direct all aspects of Empower’s Community Engagement efforts, including employee volunteerism, giving campaigns, nonprofit partnerships, and board placements.

  • Expand and strengthen relationships with community-based organizations, including those serving underrepresented or marginalized populations.

  • Lead our ACT program strategy and related community-focused events to connect employees with service and purpose.

  • Develop and publish the annual Community Engagement and Impact Report, communicating Empower’s external impact and internal participation.

Key Partnerships

  • This position collaborates closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, BRG leaders, the DEIB Council, the ACT Committee, Marketing, Communications, and executive leaders to drive integrated Diversity and Community Engagement programs.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in DEIB, Community Engagement, or related fields preferred.

  • Proven record of implementing enterprise-level DEIB and Community Engagement strategies.

  • Familiarity with past and current federal Executive Orders on DEIA and accessibility standards.

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and strategic planning skills.

  • Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and evaluate impact using both qualitative and quantitative measures.
