POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)

The Director of Sales and Marketing for Ease of Use (EOU) is responsible for driving the growth, visibility, and impact of the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use® Certification Program. This program certifies products and packaging that meet the Foundation’s accessible design standards, granting licensees the right to display the Ease of Use seal on their offerings. Through this licensing, the Foundation empowers millions of people living with arthritis and related conditions to identify products that make daily life easier, while also generating vital revenue to advance the mission.

The Director of Sales & Marketing plays a key leadership role in driving revenue growth, expanding market reach, and strengthening customer relationships. Reporting directly to the Vice President, this position is responsible for achieving sales goals, identifying new business opportunities, and contributing to marketing strategies that support organizational objectives.

The Director will partner closely with the VP Consumer Health and Ease of Use and cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative sales strategies and compelling marketing campaigns. From shaping go-to-market plans to crafting impactful digital content, this leader connects strategy to action—turning insights into results. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective EOU Partners across consumer goods, healthcare, packaging, and other industries.
  • Lead outreach, presentations, and negotiations to secure new EOU licensing agreements.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets of $2M+ in EOU  licensing fees. 
  • Develop strategies that expand reach, improve conversion, and strengthen customer loyalty through proposal development, contract negotiation and CRM systems.

Program Management & Growth

  • Partner with mission and product testing teams to ensure licensed products meet Arthritis Foundation design standards.
  • Work with internal and agency marketing/communications to expand visibility and consumer awareness of the Ease of Use seal.
  • Analyze sales performance of licensees and identify opportunities for expansion or renewal.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with licensees, serving as the primary point of contact for ongoing support.
  • Partner with corporate decision-makers and product developers to maximize the value of their certification.
  • Ensure timely collection of royalties and compliance with licensing agreements.

Strategic Leadership

  • Monitor industry trends and identify new product categories and markets for licensing growth.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to senior leadership on program performance, opportunities, and risks.
  • Represent the Arthritis Foundation as a thought leader in accessible design and consumer usability.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Vice President, providing insights, progress reports, and strategic recommendations.
  • Manage sales and marketing budgets, ensuring resources are effectively invested for maximum impact.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, curiosity, and performance—encouraging teams to think boldly and deliver excellence.

Marketing & Communications

  • Participate in the creative and planning process for marketing campaigns—offering sales perspectives and identifying opportunities for lead generation and engagement.
  • Partner with internal marketing teams and external agencies to deliver cohesive, high-impact creative execution.
  • Develop compelling content, from social media posts to strategic narratives, that reinforce brand identity and customer trust.
