Our Internship Program: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.
Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.
Department Overview:
NYCEDC’s Asset Management (AM) Division manages the overall strategy for conventional and non-traditional assets across all five boroughs of New York City including commercial real estate properties as well as transportation, critical infrastructure, and energy assets. The Asset Management division pursues a triple-bottom line strategy, pursuing not only economic returns but also social outcomes such as job creation, equitable neighborhood growth, and the integration of sustainable and resilient practices. The overall assets are divided into multiple portfolios, each managed by an Asset Manager/SVP, with a Business Operations department that monitors and enforces standards and practices across the portfolio.
The Asset Management Design & Construction (AMDC) department is responsible for capital improvements and development of all revenue generating assets NYCEDC maintains and/or operates. Reporting to the Vice President (VP) of Design and Construction, the intern supports project managers in overseeing the planning, design, and construction of NYCEDC’s real estate assets, including new building developments, renovations, major infrastructure, and public open spaces. The intern will assist with capital planning activities, project coordination, and documentation, while contributing to efforts that improve procedures, streamline workflows, and enhance overall project delivery.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing long-term capital plans and annual budgets for NYCEDC’s asset portfolio.
- Support all phases of project development, from procurement and feasibility studies through design, construction, and close-out.
- Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors throughout the development process.
- Help review funding documents, invoices, and change orders to support compliance and reporting.
- Work with Asset Management teams to ensure projects align with policy, market, and operational goals.
- Aid in tracking project scope, cost, and schedule, contributing to regular progress updates.
- Help organize and maintain project documentation and asset condition records.
- Prepare presentations, memos, and reports summarizing project findings and recommendations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings supporting large-scale development initiatives.
- Represent the team in internal discussions and occasional public or professional forums.
- Perform other related assignments and tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Preferred field(s) of study: Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related fields; demonstrated interest in design and construction processes is a plus.
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply

- Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
