Job Description

The Director, Engineering will be responsible for leading engineering teams across a business segment. They will lead teams of software engineers and contribute to the strategic direction of our software development efforts. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in software engineering, a passion for application integration, and previous startup experience. The Director of Engineering will work with their product partner to accomplish segment’s business goals. This position reports to the Vice President, Engineering and Architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the software engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that seamlessly integrate with other applications via APIs. Responsible for each engineering team’s efficiency and productivity in the business segment including tech debt.
  • Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing software hybrid engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the software engineering roadmap and technical strategy. Work closely with executive leadership to align software development efforts with company goals.
  • Project Management: Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Implement best practices in project management and software development methodologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product management, and quality assurance, to drive product development and ensure successful product launches.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain software quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and performance of software products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is ideal.
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience ideal (healthcare space would be great).
  • Ideally 5+ years of management experience. Must have managed engineering teams prior as a Technical Manager.
  • Proven experience in software engineering with a strong emphasis on application development and integrations
  • Familiarity with payment, merchant processing, and/or medical billing related revenue cycle management application experience (Stripe, etc.) preferred.
  • Track record of successfully managing and mentoring software engineering teams with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong foundations in Microservices architecture. Proficiency in software development languages and tools relevant to the industry (Java SpringBoot and/or .NET Core).
  • DevOps and automation (CI/CD) experience, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with healthcare integration standards (HL7, CDA, CCDA, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and a results-oriented mindset
