Team Leader - Roads

<p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Your principal role will be the day to day project management, responsible for leading and delivering various resources and UK schemes.</li><li>You will be functioning as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. You will seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design them.</li><li>You will be active on a number of projects at any given time. You will be supported by a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades, to whom you will be expected to provide guidance and support as appropriate.</li><li>You will be responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to the budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA, CDM, Sustainability and HSE requirements.</li><li>You will be involved in internal client liaison, financial control of projects, recruitments, business development activities and production of fee proposals.</li><li>You will Manage processes to ensure technical issues and risks are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.</li><li>You will contribute to our Lean approach to driving efficiency and removing waste from our processes.</li><li>You will be guiding, supervising and directing all team members in technical and project management matters to ensure the effective delivery of projects whilst aiding the technical/professional development of the team.</li><li>You will have direct line management, including mentoring and managing early career professionals ensuring technical excellence is in everything we deliver.</li><li>You will provide the required assistance to the discipline head to produce periodic reports, such as project performance, forecast utilisation and workload.</li><li>You will be helping maintain the culture and positive working environment in the team</li></ul><p>Key Competencies / Skills:</p><p>Mandatory Skills</p><ul><li>You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and experience of at least 5 years in UK highway design including road geometry, road restraint system, site clearance, pavement, signages, and road markings.</li><li>You should be able to direct and check the use of relevant design software such as Civil 3D, Open Roads, MX, PDS/Key Line and Sign, AutoCAD and ProjectWise.</li><li>You should have demonstrable experience of successfully leading a team and managing stakeholders.</li><li>You should be able to lead teams and help with the operational management of a team of up to 15 staff.</li><li>You should have demonstrable experience of resource and project management</li><li>You should be able to produce technical specifications and reports</li><li>You will be aware of current and emerging technologies relevant to the highways sector.</li><li>Experience of liaison with clients, co-professionals and design team</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Effective time management and strong organisational skills.</li></ul><p>Desired Skills</p><ul><li>Financial management</li><li>Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status of a recognised professional institution.</li><li>Experience on design and build projects</li><li>Use of Lean in Highways</li><li>Can demonstrate clear and successful liaison and co-ordination on multi-discipline projects and working knowledge of other disciplines’ technical capabilities and requirements.</li></ul><p> </p> <ul><li>You will have a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with over 12 years’ post-graduate experience in highway design</li><li>Near Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a recognised institution</li></ul><p>BGV:</p><ul><li>Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.</li><li>Candidates are advised to ensure that all information provided during the recruitment process — including documents uploaded — is accurate and complete, both to WSP India and its BGV partner”.</li></ul><p> </p>
