About the role

Basic Function

Coordinates and oversees the daily work (development and execution of scheduling bus and component repairs), for all Bus Operating Facilities (BOF) activities.  Provides analysis and develops recommendations for the annual budget, work schedules, performance reports, statistical reports and other local, state and federal reports as required.  Prepares reports of Central Shops activities for the Superintendent, Maintenance (Central Shops).  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Creates and maintains all bus master files in SAP, including but not limited to the creation of new bus files with all serialized components, bus transfers, dismounting/mounting all serialized components.
  • Maintains accurate records of all work performed by Central Shops.
  • Determines major component life cycles, by fleet, and develops replacement schedules.
  • Determines standardized cost and labor requirements that support component replacement and major body repairs and prints schedules.
  • Keeps Superintendent abreast of on-going/daily issues as needed.
  • Completes work orders, requisitions and research data for all buses assigned to Central Shops and vendors.
  • Prioritizes Central Shops work activities based on B.O.F. spare ratios and management requirements.
  • Coordinates with personnel from the B.O.F.s, Central Shops, Contract Administrators and vendors in the movement of buses to and from their home sites.
  • Transfers and tracks buses scheduled to Central Shops and vendors.
  • Maintains accurate schedules of buses assigned to Central Shops and vendors.
  • Develops, creates, and distributes reports and related graphs and charts in support of Central Shops activities, i.e., daily bus down reports and month-end performance and financial reports. 
  • Completes required local, state and federal reports for review and approval.
  • Performs other analysis as required in support of Central Shops activities.
  • Provides analysis reports for performance and budget variances and develops recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations required in the development of the annual budget.
  • Participates in scheduled briefings in support of Central Shops activities.
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Pay Range:  $54,300 - $71,200

Education Requirement

High school diploma or GED is required.  Associate’s degree or some college is preferred.

Years & Experience Required

Minimum (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing/maintenance or transportation environment.  Experience with statistics and analysis including charts/graphs inventory processes and scheduling.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Working knowledge of PC’s and related software; Microsoft Office Suite with a proficiency in Excel, pivot tables and data dashboards, and general working knowledge of Word.  Strong communication (written and verbal) skills. Familiarization with SAP software preferred. Strong analytical skills and large data computation.
