Job Summary:

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining company electric, diesel, and gasoline vehicles and equipment, primarily at job sites from a field service truck. Ensures all work meets manufacturer specifications, DOT requirements, and Company safety standards while maintaining accurate service records.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using diagnostic equipment, visual inspections, and technical troubleshooting methods
•    Repair, replace, and adjust damaged or worn components to restore equipment to proper working condition
•    Dismantle and reassemble vehicles and heavy equipment using hand tools, power tools, and hoisting equipment
•    Operate, inspect, and test vehicles and equipment to identify defects and verify repairs
•    Perform post-repair testing to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with manufacturer and regulatory specifications
•    Read, interpret, and follow OEM manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, and technical drawings
•    Conduct DOT vehicle and brake inspections, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
•    Inspect safety devices, guards, fasteners, and controls, making necessary adjustments to ensure safe operation
•    Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and servicing equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
•    Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation
•    Keep tools, vehicles, and work areas clean, organized, and in safe working condition
•    Perform routine support tasks such as basic facility maintenance, equipment hauling, and equipment operation as needed
•    Troubleshoot and repair high- and low-voltage electrical systems, as applicable
•    Fabricate or modify lifting devices, towing attachments, shields, hydraulic systems, or other components according to blueprints or schematics, as required

Education:

•    High School Diploma or equivalent required
•    Certificate in Diesel Technology or a combination of relevant education and experience preferred
•    Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record
•    DOT Medical Examiner Certificate or the ability to obtain one
•    Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
•    ASE Certification preferred

Skills:

•    3+ years of experience as a diesel and/or heavy equipment mechanic preferred
•    Experience performing U.S. DOT vehicle and brake inspections strongly preferred
•    Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office appli
