The Associated Press is seeking a highly motivated and strategic account manager to join the Americas content licensing and strategic partnerships team.

 

The content licensing and strategic partnerships team is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with AP’s media customers in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.

 

The Senior Account Executive will be primarily responsible for working with television and digital platforms in the U.S., playing a key role in growing existing relationships, direct sales efforts, prospecting, ideation, and creation of custom content solutions. They will also serve as liaison for their customers with AP’s editorial, platform, and products departments, among others.

 

The ideal candidate has a strong working knowledge of the media landscape, including streaming, digital, and broadcast television businesses. They must have the ability to identify revenue and non-revenue opportunities that lead to customer satisfaction, engagement, and ultimately long-term customer relationships. The ability to collaborate with colleagues from multiple departments is required. 

 

The Senior Account Executive will have direct account responsibility and work closely with their manager and others on the Americas Revenue team. They will also be an ambassador for AP’s mission, integrity, and values.

 

Reports to Director of Networks and National Media. This is a hybrid role and may be based in our New York, NY or Washington, D.C. office. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engage and manage existing customer accounts to grow relationships, ensure customer satisfaction, and maximize revenues.

  • Maintain fluency on services, present offerings and educate customers on these offerings and the various ways we can support them or work together.

  • Create proposals and opportunities and manage and negotiate deals to achieve revenue targets and account growth.

  • Proactively engage with prospects to identify new sales opportunities.

  • Provide regular updates and maintain tracking of activity and opportunities with customers and prospects.

  • Provide regular support to customers, including addressing any account questions relating to services, delivery, and billing.

 

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Knowledge of the media business; broadcast television expertise a plus.

  • Experience in B2B business development, customer engagement and/or sales of news services or other content and intellectual property products.

  • Experience building long-term relationships.

  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written), executive presence, clear, concise and proven follow through, all a must.

  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.

  • Strategic and strong account planning skills is a must, using both analytical and tactical approaches.

  • A self-starter with high ethical standards, who demonstrates initiative, efficiency, and employs disciplined follow-through with organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects at pace.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player that can work well with many departments/divisions in a collaborative manner.

  • Excellent listening skills and ability to problem solve and provide creative ideas and needs-based solutions to customers.

  • Experience using Salesforce.

  • Ability to travel, as needed.

 

Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.  Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is required.

 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 — contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
