About this role

The Managing Director, Global Head of Workplace Operations and Facilities Management oversees strategic planning, execution, and supervision of all facilities management and engineering activities across our global portfolio of nearly 90 offices and data centers in ~40 countries. This role manages a team of internal and outsourced personnel to ensure operations align with business objectives, regulatory standards, and enhance the employee experience.

This position collaborates closely with other Enterprise Services functions (including Space Planning, Lease Transactions, Design & Construction, Project and Change Management, Business Services, Corporate Security, Health & Safety, and Executive Operations) to deliver an optimal workplace environment from our New York corporate headquarters in Hudson Yards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement global facilities management strategies aligned with company goals, establishing scalable operational standards.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with ES leadership, office heads, and regional leaders to deliver workplace services and maintain global standards. Foster seamless integration with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Facilities Management and Critical Engineering: Oversee day-to-day facility operations, manage critical engineering systems, and coordinate space planning to optimize utilization. Lead emergency response efforts.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Select and manage external service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level and quality agreements are met and are cost-effective. Define the approach used to operate, with consideration given to in-house versus outsourced models.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure facilities comply with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Develop risk management strategies to mitigate operational disruptions.
  • Technology and Innovation: Utilize technology, with strong consideration given to AI, to enhance facilities management processes and sustainability initiatives.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead a global team, fostering continuous improvement, considering diversity, equity, and inclusion, and providing mentorship for professional growth.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecasts, and reports related to facilities management expenditures.
  • Sustainability: Drive initiatives to reduce carbon emissions & energy use, manage strategies to achieve emissions targets through energy efficiency and green energy purchase strategies and ensure accurate measurement and reporting of sustainability metrics.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global organization.
  • Proven track record of managing integrated facilities management outsourcing.
  • Strong understanding of financial services industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in facilities management software and technology.
  • Commitment to sustainability and experience in implementing green initiatives.


 

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $350,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
