About the role

Come get in on the ground floor of PLx! We are seeking a Senior Service Engineer to join our team! PLx (Protection Level X) is a managed service designed to accelerate and simplify the ability for DoD (Department of Defense) and DIB (Defense Industrial Base) customers onboard to a shared enterprise IT environment. PLx utilizes all the best technology of Azure, including Azure Virtual Enclaves, the cornerstone and foundation that provides the isolation, security and compliance required for the sensitive mission workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates vendor services delivered to ensure the functioning and security of PLx.
  • Coordinates PLx support activities to minimize engineering impact and maximize customer experience.
  • Develops a foundational understanding of our service and/or system design, interactions between technology layers and components, functions of infrastructure, and dependencies at scale.
  • Supports onboarding customers and administrators to move customer workloads into Azure clouds with Azure Virtual Enclaves.
  • Manage the lifecycle of computer equipment from procurement to disposal.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and lifecycle status.
  • Invests time and effort to improve knowledge and expertise.
  • Monitors and takes action on telemetry data and performs basic analyses to triangulate failures that are affecting the system availability, reliability, performance, and/or efficiency, with guidance from other engineers.
  • Responds to break-fix, outages, and other incidents during workdays and regular on-call rotations by identifying the level of impact, troubleshooting basic issues, and deploying appropriate fixes to resolve root cause(s).
  • Develops an understanding of prescriptive guidance for security, privacy, and compliance standards in alignment with direction from the business and technical experts.
  • Shares information across disciplines within their feature team in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail and manages dependencies for their work with others.
  • Actively seeks to develop an understanding of key learnings, insights, and best practices that can be applied to improve the development and operations of the system, platform, or product components and features by participating in design reviews, incident drills and debriefs, and regular meetings, as well interactions with more experienced Service Engineers and members of product engineering teams.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
