About this opportunity:
Plan, coordinate and execute U.S. refined product flows to market in coordination with refineries, pipelines and terminals, including oversight of inventory across U.S. refineries and terminal networks that could impact refinery operations. Monitor progress and understand levers that can be utilized to pre-empt operational issues (delays, costs, exposure that may negatively impact Cenovus).
What you’ll do:
- Schedule and execute the physical movement of refined products between Cenovus refineries and the pipelines and terminals used to supply products sales.
- Act as a senior level of support and guidance to other scheduling team members, as well as Marketing, Trading and Back-office functions.
- Partner closely with Marketing and Trading to determine daily physical inventory positions and supply forecast, optimize new and existing contracts, and ensure Cenovus receives optimal value from our marketing activities while reducing risk.
- Accountable for operationalizing commercial contracts and trade strategies in a way that delivers reliable supply while minimizing working capital, maximizing commercial value and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Identify, evaluate, advise, and execute on strategies that maximize operational performance and drive commercial value, including strategic planning of outgoing and incoming pipeline supply and issues that could impact refinery yields.
- Identify emerging logistics-related issues affecting Cenovus’s strategic plans and refinery unit capability, and potential impacts to refinery run rates.
- React quickly to operational upsets and outages and identify mitigations to ensure product supply and improve crude throughputs, which may require 24/7 after hours availability.
- Ensure all data pertaining to scheduling, product movements and sales are accurately communicated, accounted for and actualized in systems of record in a timely manner (e.g. Solarc RightAngle, Transport 4).
Who you are:
- 1-3 years of direct experience in commodity logistics and/or formal education in Business, Economics, Engineering or related field
Preferred:
- Demonstrated ability to execute and operationalize business strategies from concept to execution
- Strong ability to analyze complex information & details, and present findings in a clear concise format
- Ability to respond effectively/efficiently to the needs of diverse clients with a focus on customer service
- Independent decision-making with an ability to influence/direct decisions related to commercial operations, and value-drivers aligned with Cenovus’s overall marketing and trading strategy
- Proficient in Excel and adapts easily to other related platforms (ETRM experience preferred)
- Understanding of tariffs, regulations, and contractual language, including ability to identify risk mitigation optionality
- Experience in refined products logistics preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an inclusive environment with multiple internal and external partners
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
