About this opportunity:
Cenovus is looking for a Refined Products Truck Logistics Scheduler for the Dublin, Ohio office. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, USRP Scheduling, this individual is a critical front-line operational role on the U.S. Refined Products Logistics team. The position is responsible for daily truck logistics related to the movement of refined products into our distribution network, which serve Cenovus’ refinery assets in the U.S.
The Scheduler is the first point of contact for Cenovus personnel, customers, and the third-party logistics providers through which we transport our products, during both normal operational conditions and times of operational upset. The Scheduling team within the Commercial group is an integral part of Cenovus’ broader Upstream, Downstream & Corporate Strategy organization.
What you’ll do:
• Schedule daily truck movements from Cenovus Refineries and third-party supply points to terminal and customer destinations, working closely with Marketing, Trading & Manufacturing to align supply with customer contract demand
• The safe and compliant movement of multiple product types including NGL’s, petroleum coke, petrochemicals, ethanol and jet fuel
• Coordinate with refineries and suppliers to ensure accurate billing to correct destinations
• Direct third-party truck carriers on load schedules that align product delivery timing and volume with forward inventory projections
• Responsible for processing, analyzing and reporting daily truck movements
• Adjust to customer change requests, supply variations, and unforeseen operational issues to minimize impacts to both Cenovus and customers
• Negotiate truck lane rates with the objective of minimizing freight costs
• Identify problem areas and facilitate the development of appropriate solutions with truck carriers and internal Cenovus stakeholders
• Apply strong operational knowledge while being on-call 24/7 to handle any impacts related to operational upsets
• Demonstrate commercial knowledge and ability to effectively influence others, making critical and timely decisions that mitigate supply disruptions
• Assist with reconciliation of inventory volumes with mid and back-office functions
• Perform daily actualization of product movements in SRA (RightAngle) ETRM system
Who you are:
• 1+ years of direct experience in commodity logistics and/or formal education in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred:
• Demonstrated ability to execute and operationalize business strategies from concept to execution
• Strong ability to analyze complex information & details, and present findings in a clear concise format
• Ability to respond effectively/efficiently to the needs of diverse clients with a focus on customer service
• Independent decision-making with an ability to influence/direct decisions related to commercial operations, and value-drivers aligned with Cenovus’s overall marketing and trading strategy
• Proficient in Excel and adapts easily to other related platforms (ETRM experience preferred)
• Understanding of tariffs, regulations, and contractual language, including ability to identify risk mitigation optionality
• Experience refined products logistics preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an inclusive environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
