Job Description

Join our innovative Money Movement team at Wise, where we provide customers with quick and convenient money transfers in North America. Our team focuses on building and maintaining scalable systems that facilitate USD and CAD transfers, with a continuous emphasis on reducing risk, improving resilience, and ensuring overall system health. We integrate with our partners and work closely with banking and payment operations teams to automate manual workflows. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we're at the forefront of developing new features for USD, which is the most converted currency offering in the company.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

1. Payment System Integrations: Design, build, and maintain reliable software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services to integrate payment systems. Focus on creating secure, efficient solutions that improve resilience and reduce risks.

2. System Health and New Integration Development: Continuously monitor and improve the health of existing integrations while enabling new ones in the future. Identify and address technical challenges, ensuring system robustness and reliability.

3. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Projects: Work closely with other teams, including banking and payment operations. Use your strong communication skills to prioritize customer-centric projects and drive them to completion.

4. Mentoring and Code Reviews: Mentor junior engineers, establishing high-quality code standards through ongoing code reviews and encouraging best coding practices.

5. CI/CD and Deployment: Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for deployments, and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Gradle and GitHub Actions to enhance the development process.

6. Database Management: Engage in query optimization and schema design for relational databases, including MySQL, MariaDB, and Postgres, to ensure efficient data processing.

7. System Integration Patterns: Apply hands-on knowledge of system integration patterns and distributed systems to develop scalable and reliable solutions.

8. Product Mindset and Data-Driven Decisions: With a strong product mindset, make data-driven decisions that prioritize customer needs and drive the success of our money transfer product.

• You take ownership of and drive the technical roadmap for the team, ensuring alignment with overall goals.You bring strong architecture and software design skills, contributing effectively to system designs.

• You serve as a champion for best practices and innovation in technology.

• You have experience in a lead role at other companies and can provide strong, reasoned opinions to drive projects forward.

Please Note:

Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services is essential. Familiarity in front-end development using React and caching solutions like Redis and Caffeine is beneficial. Additionally, willingness to travel and collaborate with team members in different global offices is expected.
