About the role

Job Description

The Non-Clinical Drug Safety (NDS) organization of our company's Research Laboratories is currently seeking a Systems Biology Toxicologist lead within Investigative Toxicology at the West Point, PA site. 

This scientific leadership role will drive the development, strategic alignment, and application of cutting-edge genomics assays and systems biology analytics towards the identification and mechanistic de-risking of program liabilities.  This includes identifying new opportunities in genomics, systems biology and/or analytics, collaborating with laboratory scientists and analysts for development and implementation, communicating utilization strategy to leadership and program teams, and applying the approaches towards pipeline programs. It also includes working closely with program development teams to understand potential program liabilities, applying Systems Toxicology resources to assist risk assessment/mitigation, and overseeing the interpretation and communication of program-related Systems Toxicology data. The lead will actively participate in ongoing and future academic/industry/regulatory partnerships to advance the usage and regulatory acceptance of systems toxicology approaches, biomarkers and analytics as well as spearhead both internal and peer-reviewed publications and presentations.

Education:

  • Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. (with 4+ years), Master's (with 8+ years) or Bachelor's (with 12+ years) in toxicology, genetics/genomics, bioinformatics or related discipline and relevant industry experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience in toxicology and/or program development
  • Prior experience with modern genomics (eg single cell and spatial sequencing)
  • Prior experience in systems biology analysis
  • Passion for development of novel technologies and application to drug development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills including ability to distill and communicate complex biological and analytical concepts to scientists from diverse disciplines

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • AI/ML-based analytics
  • Mathematical programing (eg R, Python, Matlab)
