Summer Activity Camp: Basketball Camp Instructor (Garfield)

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring a Basketball Camp Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering basketball classes to children aged 6-12 years. The instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of basketball. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for basketball is a must!

 

Pay Range: $22.50 – $27.25

 

Activity Camp Location: Garfield Community Center

 

Work Weeks:

  • 5 weeks of camp:
    • 7/28-8/1
    • 8/4-8/8
    • 8/18-8/22
    • 8/11-8/15
    • 8/25-8/29

Camp Schedule:

  • Daily Hours: Mon-Fri, 9:15am-12:45pm or 9:15am-1:45pm
  • Paid prep time
  • Work weeks are contingent on camps meeting the minimum enrollment

Summer Activity Camp: Basketball Camp Instructor Requirements:

  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activity camp lesson plans/activities to kids ages 6-12 for a camp running 3-4 hours per day, 15-20 hours a week
  • Maintain documentation on camp participants to ensure security and youth safety- including but not limited to sign in sheets, medical needs and parenting plans
  • Use critical thinking to problem-solve and manage conflict
  • Generate supply lists for each camp; there will be some class supply funds available
  • Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance
  • Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space

 

Summer Activity Camp: Basketball Camp Instructor Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Prior youth programming experience required
  • Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
  • Reports to Associated Recreation Council Activity Camp Supervisor
