Job Description
Working in conjunction with the Research Manager/Director for Transport Networks and Components, drive Omdia’s research in Coherent Optics interacting with vendors, service providers and industry standards associations to deliver quantitative and qualitative research (market share, forecasts, opinion pieces, presentations, etc.) as part of the Optical Components and Networks intelligence services. Support sales through developing thought provoking, on-time, quality research. Drive industry thought leadership and Omdia brand awareness through conference speaking engagements, press/media interaction and webinar programs.
Main Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
Technical Authority on Coherent Optics. Demonstrate a deep command of the Optical Network and Coherent Optic market. Be able to hold your own, with subject matter experts across the industry.
Be a trusted advisor for our client base on the Coherent Optics topic.
Building base data – Use primary and secondary research to build credible base data; ensure sufficient coverage of market players;; ensure consistency with related data/markets;
Forecasting – Using primary and secondary research to generate market projections; using credible sources to support forecasts; creating the story around market development/opportunities/risks. Demonstrate the ability to turn a trend into a credible growth rate.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Extract meaningful insights from business data, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making.
Writing – Providing qualitative analysis to support and justify data with a focus on change and development; use a text plan and outline structure so support concise output; discuss the impact of technology and key market trends
Speaking – Present research findings at industry events
Scoping – keep research fresh by understanding customer needs/questions; enhancing the research each cycle and continually adding value to ensure we have clear value
Thought leadership – Produce written insights and press material to support research outputs; present at industry events and webinars
Sales support – Partner with the sales team to generate and progress leads, and support renewals; continually evolve the research offering
Event support – Partner with the events team to further Omdia’s position in the space, and to develop new research propositions based on intelligence gathered at events
Qualifications
• Deep Knowledge of Optical Component/Networks Coherent Optics
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, telecommunications, CS, business or equivalent experience. MBA is a plus.
• Demonstrable experience at a telecommunications network vendor, service provider or market research firm
• Adjacent Cloud/Com knowledge a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Customer-oriented, team-oriented
