The Role
We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist – AI & Robotics to join our Manufacturing Technology Development team within the General Motors Research and Development organization. In this role, you will create advanced pipelines for capturing, curating, and synthesizing robotic datasets, integrating multimodal sources like tactile, visual, and proprioceptive data. You will innovate in self-supervised data labeling and simulation-to-real transfer. You will provide AI & Simulation teams with rich training resources and Robotics Intelligence teams with high-quality datasets for prototyping.
What You Will Do
Lead development of data pipelines for multimodal robotic datasets.
Innovate in self-supervised learning and simulation-to-real data transfer.
Ensure quality and scalability of training datasets for AI models.
Collaborate with AI & Simulation and Robotics Intelligence teams.
Establish best practices for data curation and labeling.
Mentor junior data scientists and engineers.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or robotics.
Strong background in multimodal data processing and self-supervised learning.
Experience with simulation platforms and real-world data integration.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++.
Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field or equivalent experience.
Proven leadership and collaboration skills.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
PhD in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.
Track record of innovation including patents or publications.
Experience with simulation-to-real transfer techniques.
Knowledge of data privacy and security standards.
Experience mentoring and developing technical talent.
