Position Title: Director, Technical Operations - AMERICAS

Location: Ashburn, VA or Dallas, TX preferred. Open to other DLR locations. HYBRID

Your role

This role leads the Americas Technical Operations for Digital Realty, with overall responsibility for ensuring reliable, compliant, and high-performing operations across the region. Acting as the senior technical representative during critical (red) events and vendor-facing conversations, the position drives alignment with global standards while holding sub-regional teams accountable for execution across reliability, maintenance, and change management. The role also ensures 24/7 operational resilience and oversees the implementation of consistent processes that meet regulatory and local requirements.

In partnership with cross-functional teams this role shapes and delivers operational strategies that enhance the operations and align with global business objectives. It also focuses on performance management, analytics, and reporting to provide visibility into key metrics and trends, while fostering continuous improvement and maintaining strong industry insight to bring forward best practices and innovation.

What you’ll do 

• Lead and drive the Regional Technical Operations organization for Digital Realty – representing the company on all red events and technical Regional Operations matters in front of customers 

• Work with Sub-Regional teams to implement Global Standards and hold sub-regional teams / local teams to account for maintaining standards across reliability, maintenance, change management, site acceptance

• Support the Regional Technical Operations team to support local sites and ensure there is sufficient internal resilience to deal with all technical matters 24/7

• Work with sub-regional Operations team to ensure all operational processes and procedures remain compliant with the relevant regulations and local standards

• Work with Sales and Solution Engineering teams to ensure operations processes support the customer journey and promote customer satisfaction

• Develop and implement Regional operational strategies that align with the Global goals and objectives of Digital Realty

• Represent the team in cross-functional and vendor-facing forums, including Design, OAC, FOC/FWT, QBR, and ABR meetings to ensure alignment on priorities, performance, and deliverables.

• Build and maintain centralized records of analytics and reporting, improving visibility into key operational metrics and performance trends.

• Maintain a strong external network and insight into the latest developments in the data center industry, including innovative technologies and best practice solutions

• Work with sub-regional management to monitor and assess performance of operational personnel

What you’ll need

• Significant experience of being in a similar role in multinational organizations

• Experienced in implementing change and driving continuous improvement

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams in a global matrix reporting environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong financial and budgeting skills

• Ability to travel as required
