USA, United StatesRemotefull_timeVerifiedPosted 2 Aug 2024
💰 $230,000/yr($195,000/yr$230,000/yr)

About the role

Our healthcare system is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. Every year, over 50 million Americans suffer adverse financial consequences as a result of seeking care, from lower credit scores to garnished wages. The challenge is only getting worse, as high deductible health plans are the fastest growing plan design in the U.S.

Cedar’s mission is to leverage data science, smart product design and personalization to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Today, healthcare providers still engage with its consumers in a “one-size-fits-all” approach; and Cedar is excited to leverage consumer best practices to deliver a superior experience.

The Role:

The New Verticals squad is a dynamic group operating like a startup within a startup, focused on expanding Cedar’s product into verticals beyond traditional healthcare.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative solutions that improve the experience for millions of patients and fundamentally rethink how hundreds of billions of healthcare dollars are spent. You’ll work alongside a small, experienced team of leaders who have built and scaled unicorn products to develop new solutions for healthcare payments. You’ll thrive in an environment with rapid iteration where you can directly impact outcomes.

If you love fast-paced development, direct interaction with customers, and learning how to launch new products and businesses, then this is the role for you!

Cedar is committed to a flexible work environment, so this as well as many of our roles are remote friendly.

In this position you will:

  • Join a team within Cedar that is scaling up new products in non-traditional verticals of Healthcare.
  • Work closely with a Product Mgr, Tech Lead, and Designer to build features in a React application.
  • Act as a leader within the team in delivering features across the stack (from Python to JSX/TSX/CSS).

  • Lead ambiguous projects and proactively unblock peers with their projects.
  • Participate in daily standups, backlog grooming, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Lead decision making and drive buy-in efforts within the team.

What we look for in an ideal candidate:

  • Ability to creatively tackle both product and technical challenges. On this team, you’ll receive high-level problems instead of detailed requirement documents, tasking you with finding solutions that balance technical excellence, pragmatism, and speed.
  • Be a proactive, positive team player. In our small group, everyone's contributions matter, and we expect you to actively collaborate to find solutions.
  • Experience leading technical problems across the stack with a strong ownership mentality, focused on delivering value (we don’t have a hard requirement, but generally this comes with at least 6-10 years of professional software development experience)
  • Proficient in backend languages (Python/Java/Ruby/C#) and frontend technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Angular), with experience in full-stack frameworks (Django/Rails).
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, Docker, and Docker Compose is a plus.
