The Product Development Manager - Industrial Welding Filler Metals is onsite supporting teams and product at the Hobart Filler Metals location at Trade Rd E, Troy, Ohio.

Job Description

Hobart Brothers, an ITW Company, is a globally recognized leader in the manufacturing and distribution of welding consumables. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Development Manager to join our team in Troy, Ohio. As the Product Development Manager for Welding Filler Metals, you will be responsible for driving the development of new products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting market research, and ensuring successful product launches.

What You’ll Do and Impact:

1. New Product Development:

  • Develop and execute overall vision and strategy for new filler metal product development.
  • Lead projects from the discovery phase through development, ensuring successful implementation and market readiness.
  • Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to develop Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies emphasizing solution monetization.

2. Market Research and Insights:

  • Develop a deep understanding of end-users' businesses and their underserved needs.
  • Conduct market research, collect customer insights, and competitive intelligence.
  • Utilize research findings to drive product innovation and address customer pain points effectively.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Hobart operations and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and sustainability of innovative technologies.
  • Collaborate with other ITW Welding divisions to align around system solutions, fostering a cohesive approach.

4. Product Line Management:

  • Balance innovation with opportunities for product line simplification, ensuring a streamlined and effective product portfolio.
  • Successfully transition new products and innovations to the product management team before release.

5. Leadership and Culture:

  • Develop and promote a culture of integrity, respect, trust, shared risk, and simplicity within the team.
  • Embrace the principle of focusing on the most impactful and thrive in a decentralized, entrepreneurial work environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline; an MBA is a plus. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering discipline with strong business acumen may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a product-based, business-to-business environment, preferably in the welding industry.

  • Strong background in marketing and sales, with excellent business acumen and project management skills.
  • Technical aptitude and mechanical inclination, with a solid understanding of the welding process.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build relationships in a multifaceted, cross-functional, collaborative work environment.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and driven to continually learn and develop.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed.
