DescriptionThe Collaborative Tools team provides artifact and source code management solutions that are used by most internal Netflix engineers. We support developer productivity by deeply integrating a mix of first and third party solutions such that the experience is approachable, intuitive, and safe for our internal users.
About the roleThough not exclusively so, this role will focus on the artifact management portion of our team’s scope. This includes: artifact storage, distribution, and a share of the related security and compliance concerns.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large, multi-region Artifactory installation that serves thousands of users and systems.
• Continue development of an internally authored multi-region artifact caching system built on Varnish.
• Maintain and improve integrations between third party systems and our internal stack.
• Work with our CI team to improve the safety of artifact publication.
• Work with our security team to improve the safety of artifact consumption.
• Make contributions across other team domains. For example: source code management and source code search.

Requirements

• You have prior experience developing and operating highly reliable high traffic systems in a production setting.
• You are versatile. You are well equipped to switch between software development and operations-oriented tasks as needed.
• You have professional-level proficiency with at least one programming language (ex: Java, Python, Go).
• You are comfortable debugging issues with distributed systems, individual machines, and processes that are running on a Linux stack.
• You have a product-centric mindset that you use to understand business needs. 
• You have the technical and interpersonal skills to collaboratively design the scalable systems and engineering solutions that meet business needs.
• You employ strong senses of empathy and curiosity to build the best possible experiences for the users of your products.
• You have the communication skills required to collaborate with and influence teams and individuals in order to drive initiatives forward without a strict top-down mandate.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience administering a high traffic Artifactory installation.
• Prior experience administering Varnish and/or writing VCL.
• Professional-level proficiency with one or more JVM programming languages (ex: Java, Kotlin).
• Professional-level proficiency with Python.
