The Simulation Education Assistant Director oversees the daily educational support and management of simulation educator staff at the College of Nursing's Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation. The assistant director provides direct support for scheduling and implementation of simulation/lab and experiential learning for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs across all three campuses. The assistant director will assist the faculty and simulation educators with the design, implementation, and evaluation of simulated clinical learning activities to ensure meeting of student learning outcomes. The assistant director will also provide instructional support in simulation as needed.
Educational Operations and Resource Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the clinical simulation education calendar, ensuring efficient scheduling, and adequate support to all simulation activities, maintenance of simulation education repository, and availability of equipment and supplies in coordination with the Assistant Director of Simulation Operations. Collaborate with simulation operations to ensure the availability and functionality of simulation technology, equipment, and supplies for simulation sessions. Mentor, supervisor, evaluate, and write mid-year and annual reviews for all direct reports assigned to support simulation and learning lab activities across all campuses. Consult with nursing leadership and human resources to resolve staffing challenges and drive recruitment of top talent for the simulation center. Collaborate with nursing faculty, clinical support and Assistant Director of Simulation Operations, to coordinate and schedule simulation activities. Represent the college of nursing simulation center and the Executive Director of Experiential Learning and Simulation of simulation as needed.
Simulation Curriculum and Learning: Ensure all educational activities reflect the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP) and accreditation standards from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Identify gaps/perform needs assessment in curriculum where simulation can enhance clinical education and training and prioritize these areas based on their impact on patient care and outcomes. Design, develop, and oversee implementation of simulation-based programs and curricula that promote clinical excellence and interprofessional collaboration. Collaborate with subject matter experts, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure the accuracy authenticity, and relevance of simulation scenarios. Work with faculty and simulation educators to integrate simulation activities seamlessly into the existing curriculum, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and clinical competencies. Evaluation and Feedback: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of simulation, collecting feedback from participants, faculty, and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Executive Director in data analytics to identify areas of improvement and make evidence-based recommendations for enhancing educational experience. Conduct activities in simulation to support or/and maintain best practices and standards for simulation and experiential learning certification ( i.e., simulation certification, simulation certificates, Continuing Education, Advisory Boards, etc. ).
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of 4 years of related exempt level experience including 2 years of supervisory experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have active Florida RN license and three years of clinical nursing experience by start of the position.
PREFERRED:
Preferred candidates will be certified as a simulation healthcare educator (CHSE or CHSE-A), have a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing, and leadership experience.
