About the role

Come join us at Con Edison as a Tech Lead - Systems Specialist, where you will be responsible for leading system development and vendor implementation efforts, from project initiation through post implementation support. This role will report to IT BSD Grid Operations & Engineering Technical Support. This role will function as the technical and functional application lead for the Con Edison AMI and DERMS support application stack. The lead will be responsible for managing a cross-functional team of employees, contractors, and vendor resources through the support, development, and implementation of applications which directly support operational AMI efforts as well as the enterprise DERMS application. They will work closely with key business and company stakeholders and monitor and control all project activity throughout the project life cycle. Core Responsibilities
  • Leads and coordinates project activities and routine application support with stakeholders in ETS and the Business.
  • Leads and manages a team of ETS professionals.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and overall architecture of AMI applications supporting the operational integration with the Outage Management System.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and overall architecture of DERMS support applications including load flow applications and GIS integration efforts.
  • Works with the ETS DERMS, AMI, OMS, GIS, and Integration partner teams to implement a robust set of services.
  • Identifies business requirements and creates a plan of action.
  • Works with the DERMS application, broader ETS team, and business users to optimize the application for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Coordinates with the Vendors, System Integrators, Product Designers and Architects to translate requirements into technology solutions.
  • Leads integration of frontend and backend aspects of the application stack.
  • Leads requirements governance and collaborates with business stakeholders throughout the planning and implementation process.
  • Provide training and demonstration to all supported applications to users and testers as required.
  • Exercise responsibilities as the lead on AMI and DERMS support application initiatives and projects, holding responsibility for developing solutions to business needs and resolving issues as they occur.
  • Provide ETS storm and weather event support services. Serve as the ETS Unit leader on rotation.
Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math/Science, or Engineering, or any IT - Related Degree and (3) years of relevant IT experience working experience in supporting IT systems of a large user base, focused on Software engineering, System Analysis or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math/Science, or Engineering, or any IT - Related Degree and (5) years of relevant IT experience working experience in supporting IT systems of a large user base, focused on Software engineering, System Analysis or
  • Associate's Degree and (7) years of relevant IT experience working experience in supporting IT systems of a large user base, focused on Software engineering, System Analysis.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must have ability to learn new technology as required for the job using documentation and other available resources, required.
  • People Management experience, required.
  • Proven experience leading a team to perform project management functions and deliver complex and critical projects, required.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and manage resolutions of critical obstacles, required.
  • Able to act as a coach and mentor for assigned team members with the ability to transfer knowledge to various audiences, required.
  • Flexibility to work on multiple assignments with changing priorities and stay on schedule/on budget, required.
  • Ability to present technical and non-technical topics to different levels of management, required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting data flow components and applications to ensure seamless operation, required.
  • Ability to write and Optimize database queries using SQL to extract and manipulate data efficiently, required.
  • Experience in evaluating and assessing technology architecture components for optimal performance, required.
  • Knowledge of AMI operational applications, preferred.
  • Knowledge of PVL (Poly Voltage Loadflow) or other industry Load Flow analysis tools, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Outage Management System applications and tools, preferred.
