The Investment Data Area is the home for AllianzGI’s investment management-related data products that leverage IDS and share dependencies (e.g., Benchmark & Market Index data, Issuer & Security Information, Investment Key Figures, Performance & Attribution Data, etc.).


As a Data Steward, you will be part of AllianzGI’s Data Steward Chapter and assigned to the Benchmark & Market Index (BMI) Squad. The BMI Squad takes end-to-end ownership of the data product, including budget responsibility, prioritization of consumer requests, and resolution of data issues. 


You will work in a cross-functional Agile Squad alongside Data and Business Analysts and the Data Product Owner, contributing to AllianzGI’s Data & Technology Strategy by enabling high-quality, governed data across the investment and operations value chain.

 

This role is based in Frankfurt or Munich Germany.

 

What you will do

 

•    Data Quality & Monitoring: Implement and maintain data quality controls and remediation plans. Monitor daily, weekly, and other regular processes in close collaboration with IDS. Perform data corrections or enhancements as needed
•    Issue Remediation: Identify, analyze, and resolve data issues to ensure the accuracy and reliability of Benchmark & Market Index data
•    Metadata & Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, data lineage and process documentation, ensuring clarity and consistency in data definitions and methodologies across the data value chain
•    Business Collaboration: Support Business/Data Analysts in creating business requirements and decision papers to align data initiatives with business needs
•    Cross-Product Collaboration: Partner with other Data Stewards to drive cross-product data initiatives and ensure consistency across data products
•    Data Advocacy: Act as a data ambassador, promoting awareness, best practices, and data governance standards across the organization
•    Data Processes & Policies: Ensure adherence to defined processes and policies related to Benchmark & Market Index data

 

What you bring 

 

•    Educational Background: Excellent university degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or related field of study
•    Business Requirements Insight: Proven experience in Benchmark Data Governance and Market Index Operations. Deep knowledge of equity and fixed income indices and market standards. Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets
•    Metadata & Governance: Experience working with metadata standards and data governance frameworks in collaboration with Enterprise Data Offices
•    Agility: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and product-oriented teams
•    Asset Management Experience: practical experience within an asset management company, fund administrator, custodian, or as a consultant in this field is necessary. The candidate needs to have a robust understanding of the operating model of an asset management company
•    Financial understanding: In-depth knowledge of the lifecycle, structure, and operational use of Benchmark and Market Index data across asset classes such as Equity and Fixed Income. This includes familiarity with index methodologies, rebalancing processes, vendor data feeds, and their integration into the investment management value chain
•    People & Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders across various functions and ensuring alignment on data initiatives
•    Analytical & Problem Solving: Pragmatic, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
•    Technical Proficiency: Knowledge in data analysis, automation, and business intelligence tools such as SQL, Python, PowerBI, JIRA, and Databricks
•    Language Skills: Fluent in English; additional languages are considered an advantage
