Senior Engineer – Mission Modeler

 

In this position you will have modelling and simulation responsibilities over a wide variety of complex Mission architectures in the space, air, and ground domains.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Analyze of variety of space architectures for defense and civil missions, using a custom-built tool suite. Your systems analysis results will guide and/or set architecture, system and/or component requirements.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Python programming is required. Training for other packages may be provided as needed.
  • Development of new tools and algorithms for mission systems modeling and data analysis
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to develop state-of-the-art system designs and analyze performance of hardware demonstrations.
  • As a team member, you will contribute to completion of milestones within specific projects and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers may be required.
  • Responsibilities may include new business support in the form of proposal writing and/or cost/schedule estimation.  
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You'll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • MS or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with analysis of systems, dissection of complex problems, and identification of key performance drivers.
  • Solid MATLAB programming skills.
  • Solid analytic modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to document analysis results and write reports. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Ability to interface with technicians, peers, senior-level engineers, business development, management.
  • Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent teamwork.

 

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
