About the role

Summary

The Senior Finance Systems Delivery Manager is a pivotal member of the Finance Systems team, which enables the Finance & Accounting department to achieve its goals by streamlining processes, improving system efficiency, and delivering high-quality solutions that simplify their work.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance Systems within Workiva’s Business Technology (BT) organization, this role collaborates closely with Business Systems Analysts, System Administrators, and business stakeholders to manage the team’s delivery of solutions to Finance & Accounting. In this hybrid project manager/scrum master role, you will project-manage smaller projects, support larger enterprise programs, and drive agile practices for the team. 

What You’ll Do

Manage the planning and delivery of projects, enhancements, and user support

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance & Accounting and BT to define clear project scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, work plans, status reports, issue/risk logs

  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and impediments

  • Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring projects stay within scope and budget

  • Implement and maintain project management methodologies and tools

  • Manage change requests and ensure proper documentation and approvals

Communicate transparently

  • Foster a culture of open communication and transparency within the team and with stakeholders

  • Provide visibility of the team’s work status to the team, senior leadership, and business stakeholders

  • Collaborate effectively with other BT teams and vendors to organize, schedule, and deliver work dependencies in cross-team projects

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs)

Empower the Finance Systems team

  • Foster a collaborative team culture through servant leadership

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

  • Guide the team in adopting and refining agile best practices and principles

  • Remove impediments and blockers that hinder team productivity, escalating where necessary

  • Facilitate conflict resolution within the team and with stakeholders

  • Coach the team on estimating work effort and capacity planning

  • Champion the team’s accomplishments and advocate for their needs

Contribute to Finance Systems team growth and excellence

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization

  • Promote continuous improvement within the team’s work intake, prioritization, and delivery processes

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of team goals and objectives

  • Conduct retrospectives and post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement

  • Mentor and coach team members on agile methodologies, project management best practices, and effective communication and collaboration techniques

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience as a Project Manager, Business Systems Analyst, Delivery Manager, or Scrum Master with a Bachelor’s degree; or 2 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience

  • Proficiency with work management tools and software (e.g., JIRA, Smartsheet, Asana, Microsoft Project)

  • Familiarity with specific agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise finance systems and processes is preferred

  • Proven experience managing cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills

  • Effective stakeholder management

  • Influential leadership as an individual contributor

 

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Up to 10% - Occasional travel to Workiva offices for team meetings, training sessions, or project kick-offs

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $79,000.00 - $134,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
