Department Overview:

This laboratory is within the Department of Surgical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine

Over the summer a student is expected to work 30-40 hours over normal business hours (8am-4pm).

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is meticulous, detail-oriented, has strong verbal and written communication skills, and a strong interest in musculoskeletal injury prevention through medical imaging. Experience in quantitative/qualitative image analysis and familiarity with DICOM are highly desired. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in computed tomography, digital radiography, and image segmentation with Mimics/image/3D-slicer.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A basic understanding of image data, bone mechanobiology, and a strong interest in developing a career in radiology and/or orthopaedic surgery are highly preferred. Experience in computer programming (Python, MATLAB, etc.) will be desired but not required.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Students will be trained by a scientist to learn our CT segmentation protocol. They will be expected to work independently after the initial training. Involvement in AI automated analysis of medical images, finite element model analysis of bones, and associated programming are active areas of research in the laboratory.

Physical Demands:

Computer based work is less demanding and roles that only require desk and computer work will be considered if needed
