Job Description

Wilshire seeks a Tax Senior Associate to join their Operations team in Santa Monica, CA. This position was created due to significant growth and increased complexity of the private equity industry. The person in this position will spend substantially all their time on alternative investments taxation issues with the remaining on supporting quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial reporting and various ad-hoc matters. The alternative investment funds are generally organized as either U.S. or Cayman limited partnerships and have a significant non-U.S. investor base.

The Tax Senior Associate position is suited for individuals with relevant work experience. This position is very visible and will provide the successful candidate with significant interaction within and across the firm. We look to identity self-motivated candidates with a solid academic background, enthusiasm, and strong professional drive. The Tax Senior Associate will report to the Head of Operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead tax reporting and filing efforts for a high-volume operations environment
  • Manage and implement all federal and state tax compliance and planning
  • Ensure all required tax returns are timely and correctly filed (e.g. 1065, 1042, 1120F, 8804/8805, etc.)
  • Monitor tax balances with various state and federal jurisdictions and resolve as appropriate
  • Monitor investor tax withholdings with various state and federal jurisdictions and resolve as appropriate
  • Oversee FATCA filings for the funds
  • Assist in tax related support in the annual audit process
  • Assist with and review preparation of tax information in quarterly financial statements and investor reports
  • Respond to or coordinate investor and investment tax queries
  • Assist with special projects and management initiatives

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in accounting or tax related major required
  • Strong tax background with 4-7 years of relevant experience in investment management / limited partnerships
  • Superior writing skills and strong verbal communication required
  • Advanced quantitative/analytical ability and Excel skills required
  • Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills required
  • Candidate must be collaborative, a team player, self-motivated, and possess strong integrity and professionalism
  • CPA license (active or inactive) or CPA candidate preferred
  • Master’s in taxation preferred
  • Public accounting background including Big-4 exposure preferred
  • Some financial statement audit or reporting experience preferred

The pay range for this position is $100,000-$125,000. However, base pay will be determined on an individual basis considering various factors, including location, qualifications, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and a full range of health and financial benefit offerings, which will be provided in conjunction with an offer of employment.
