About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior R&D Engineer supporting the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies Mechanical Engineering team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Own the design development of mechanical components of medical device systems.
- Create drawings, BOM’s, and other design outputs.
- Collaborate with team members to translate customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
- Develop test methods for evaluating product requirements and design specifications.
- Write and execute protocols/reports for Design Verification.
- Provide clear communication to stakeholders.
- Assist Packaging, Labeling, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering/Quality teams to commercialize proposed design.
- Work cooperatively with Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
- In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Biomedical
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 or more years of experience OR Master’s Degree with 3 or more years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent MS Office suite skills.
- Experience with medical device or regulated industry design control process and documentation (i.e. Windchill).
- Experience with SolidWorks, working with suppliers, and/or type testing.
- Experience with machined, sheet metal and/or injection molded component design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Experience with rapid prototyping technology to accelerate proof of concepts.
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems.
