Sensors: Space and Air division in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to be part of their product development team.

What you will do:

  • Participate in software design and development for embedded systems, as well as supporting system integration and test, all using the established Raytheon engineering processes and practices.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in solving complex design and integration problems.
  • Support design, development, testing and integration of hardware devices and registers.
  • Use modular design approaches and/or agile software development techniques for a high quality, supportable software system.
  • Maintain Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • Ability to obtain SAP program access.
  • Work onsite at Plano, TX [relocation eligible]
  • Travel and support off-site facilities as needed.

Qualifications you must have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant software development and integration experience.
  • Experience developing software for real-time, multi-threaded embedded systems in a Linux environment using OOA&D principles and C++.
  • Experience working with software, firmware and hardware interfaces (ICDs, IDDs), and inter-subsystem IDDs for large and complex system of systems.
  • Experience in senior responsibilities including mentoring junior engineers and leading feature development, participating in system integration and test planning, external customer calls, and providing architecture solutions is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a System Integration Lab (SIL) environment with ability to perform capability or feature integration at Subsystem or System level and perform preliminary investigation of issues encountered.
  • Experience collaborating with software and firmware engineers to resolve issues uncovered in the SIL by using the debug capabilities available and be able to propose new ideas/tools to improve the issue resolution cycle time.
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The ability to obtain additional special access clearances also required.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology including product backlog development and maintenance.
  • Ability to lead a small team of 3 – 5 engineers during planning, execution and support phases of SDLC efforts.
  • Experience developing and integrating software for a large Radar or other sensor system.
  • Experience with UML tools such as Cameo or Rhapsody.
  • Ability to debug and solve complex software integration issues in a SIL environment.
  • Experience working with git and Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira, bitbucket, fe/cru)
  • Experience with software estimation, bidding, and proposals for new business opportunities.
