As a System Design Engineer within the System Engineering and Test Capabilities Center, you will interface with the customer to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies.
You will support engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support across the product lifecycle. Through Digital Transformation (DTx) you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development.
This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ
What You Will Do
- Requirements decomposition and lower tier requirements derivation for the system. Requirements development and maturation to include subsystem and component level. (Through this you learn and communicate how the system is really going to function
- Develop system architectures that meet the system performance and interface requirements
- Perform trade studies on the best solutions to develop the system. (you determine the most efficient design that has the lowest cost)
- Establish verification and validation techniques for requirements at all indentureships of complex systems to include application of simulation, testing, analysis, and demonstration.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree
- This position requires 12 months or less of professional experience (excluding internships)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience or coursework in System Design
- Matlab and/or C++ experience
Qualifications We Prefer
- Specific majors: Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Modeling and Simulation experience
- Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
- Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
- Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems
- Proven strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
- Basic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources
