About the role
Directly responsible for the overall management of the powder coating paint system including all aspects of current operation to assure acceptable safety, 5S, quality, productivity, employee conduct and performance criteria are achieved. Directly responsible for the powder coating value stream,which includes the plant 1 painting operation. Follows the product through final paint inspection to assure proper paint requirements are maintained. The value stream leader is the primary owner for the value stream and is responsible for paint line employees to ensure proper orientation, training, and development. Executes and prioritize production plans in order to meet deadlines. Participate directly in all projects related to his/her area like, process improvement, Kaizen Events, etc. Provides leadership to assure all support functions and team leads work with high quality standards and perform in an effective and efficient manner in conjunction with our KION values.
What we offer:
- Accountable for the powder coating paint line results.
- Assures the powder coating line runs in a takt based process, utilizing MES systems to monitor and track downtime.
- Provides daily direction for the value stream to assure efficient and effective operation of his/her value stream.
- Establishes Lean principles within the value stream and recognizes and eliminates waste within the shot blasting and powder coating systems.
- Utilizes Kaizen events to drive Continuous Improvement.
- Follows PDCA methodology and utilizes team members to effectively identify root causes and implements proper corrective actions.
- Implements Shop Floor Visual management by performing Gemba walks.
- Staffs and schedule departmental personnel to ensure production requirements are met while minimizing costs.
- Plan departmental operations by establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Executes the production plans according to forecast.
- Responsible for developing personnel in the powder coating process while reducing cost in consumable usage.
- Must be an effective communicator and capable of motivating employees to achieve results.
- Verify materials (direct and indirect) are available on-hand to meet production schedules.
- Tracks KPI’s using White Boards and follows up on any/all continuous improvement efforts
Tasks and Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Work expierence in managing a powder coating paint line.
- Experienced hands-on user of shotblasting and powder coating equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Computer literacy with the ability to learn new computer software programs
Education:
- College or University Degree.
- GED - Required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of 5 – 20 people
