Job Summary:
This role performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist (RST, RPSGT, CPSGT) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee. Polysomnographic Trainee works with a PSG-Tech may assist technologists in scoring, cleaning of equipment, rooms, making phone calls, etc... depending on SDC needs & level of his or her training.
Experience:
- Approximately six months of training as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies is required to become a Polysomnographic Technologist.
- It is expected that when eligible this position becomes certified as an RPSGT.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a polysomnography program, of no less than one year duration, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility preferred.
- One year of post-secondary education or current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology or college education preferred.
Licenses/Certification:
- CPR
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated effective written and spoken communication skills.
- Demonstrates appropriate social skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and follow direction.
