There are two types of experience being considered for this role: Experience that is directly relevant to the role and Total Working Experience, in all fields. This includes: internships and consulting work. In collaboration with the hiring manager, the People and Culture team calculates experience based on the candidate’s most current resume. When calculating the offer, consideration is given to candidates that possess additional qualifications (i.e., desired qualifications). Teaching Lab will generally cap salaries for new employees at 105% of the midpoint to allow for continued growth in the role over time.

SUMMARY OF POSITIONAs a member of the People and Culture’s Shared Services team, the People & Culture Services Generalist provides administrative, operational, and program support for People and Culture Shared Services. While ensuring compliance with all Federal and State employment laws and record keeping requirements, this role has direct responsibility for maintaining standard operating procedures, auditing, and creating and maintaining personnel files. Additionally, this role supports appreciation and recognition, employee feedback and communications, coordinates employee activities and events, and serves as a back-up for onboarding and orientation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The People and Culture Services Generalist will hold responsibilities in the following areas:

  • People Administration & Operations
  • Serves in the rotation for the weekly People and Culture office hour, responds to employee inquiries for general HR questions, and redirects to the appropriate People and Culture team member as appropriate while keeping the Senior Director, People and Culture Services abreast of inquiries and involving them as needed
  • Assists team members with general HR questions, and serves as a guide to assist with finding resources to address their needs (e.g., EAP).  Uses good judgment to escalate more complex inquiries to the Senior Director, People and Culture Services.
  • Monitors the people@teachinglab.org email to ensure timely responses and follow-up while directing emails to the appropriate People and Culture Shared Services team member for follow-up
  • Ensures labor law posters are current and provided for all employees to view, as well as compliance with new hire completion
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, People Operations, creates and maintains the employee changes spreadsheet/Monday.com boards and checklists for new employees, separations, promotions, demotions, and transfers
  • Coordinates and maintains the People and Culture Shared Services team calendar
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, People Operations, creates and maintains accurate employee records and personnel files; this includes 1099 contractor files 
  • With oversight and guidance from the Senior Director, People and Culture Services, audits personnel and 1099 contractor files to ensure workplace compliance with labor laws, and employment practices
  • Maintains Paylocity’s organizational chart 
  • Conducts HR reporting as requested
