Salary Range:
$44,190 - $75,590

Job Summary:
The Family Conservancy is currently seeking a qualified Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role the Staff Account will ensure the accuracy of the company's finances and budgets are kept on track. The ideal candidate will have a natural passion for analysis and intricate knowledge of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, nonprofit fund accounting, and other financial transactions within the organization. The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s financial activities. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant will play an important support role, clarifying the financial outlook of the agency with precise, proactive measures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general fund accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Prepares monthly nonprofit financial statements and reports.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Manages grant records, communicates information, and insights to Program Directors.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable or grant drawdowns, and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance, gathers necessary account information, and documents to perform annual audit, agency 990 and annual report.
- Works with Program Directors to create grant budgets.
- Files grant reports with federal, state, and local government agencies, and other grantors.
- Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Continue professional education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of related experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Nonprofit experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
