Healthcare Associate: Infectious Disease Team   TechAtlas Healthcare Associates on the Infectious Disease (ID) Team collaborate with RA Capital’s Investment Team to evaluate competitive landscapes and companies developing innovative technologies and therapeutics within the infectious disease space to identify potential investment opportunities, as well as advise on program strategy for portfolio companies. Associates specialize in multiple infectious disease areas and capabilities, becoming experts in their fields to help guide investment decisions.   • Graduate-level expertise in infectious diseases and relevant therapeutic capabilities (vaccines, prophylactics, antivirals, antibiotics, leveraging innate and adaptive immunity)
  • Ability and desire to learn and assimilate information rapidly about new science, therapeutic areas, and business models
  • Ability to critically analyze preclinical/clinical data and draw conclusions about the strength and implications of the data
  • Ability to convey clear and concise ideas and thoughts through both written and oral communications, including written investment theses, pitch decks, and presentations
  • Ability to think granularly across scientific, commercial, and regulatory domains while balancing a sharp sense of the big picture
  • Ability to juggle multiple business requirements to meet high priority needs and deadlines, recognizing and communicating proactively when additional support is needed
  Responsibilities:  
  • Develop expertise in several therapeutic areas and/or technologies within the infectious disease landscape
  • Meet with companies developing therapeutic interventions for infectious diseases to evaluate investment opportunities
  • Analyze and communicate the significance of preclinical and clinical data sets and biological intricacies
  • Conduct due diligence with Investment Team members and inform investment decisions through your understanding of the current standard of care, unmet needs, and therapies in development in areas of coverage
  • Communicate analyses, conclusions, and recommendations in written and oral forms to internal and external stakeholders, including Investment Team members and C-suite executives of portfolio companies
  • Work with portfolio companies on strategy and pipeline prioritization, and other topics as needed
  • Interview and survey key opinion leaders and subject matter experts
  • Attend scientific and investor conferences
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitive landscapes in coverage areas
  • Create and update competitive landscapes in infectious disease coverage areas using RA Capital’s proprietary mapping system
  • Assess inbound investment opportunities and make initial recommendations to the team
  Qualifications: We are looking for curious, intelligent, and driven individuals capable of delivering results in a timely manner and at the highest levels of quality. All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
  • Candidates with a PhD or MD in infectious disease related specialties (microbiology, virology, bacteriology, vaccinology, immunology) completed or near completion, AND/OR candidates with 2-4 years of relevant work experience in these areas, who are eager to apply their scientific expertise to novel and exciting challenges in biotech and healthcare investing
