Unique Skills:
This is a Weekend Liaison/Design Engineer position in Structural/Mechanical Engineering Completions group which is responsible for completion (outfitting) of new large cabin Gulfstream aircraft. The primary role of this position is to ensure all mechanical and structural engineering related production issues are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion. This position will also have the opportunity to engage in engineering design, modeling, and drafting of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and wire harnesses as part of outfitting new aircraft. The candidate will work in a proactive team-based environment with Operations, Engineering, Certification, and Quality.
This position is in Appleton, Wisconsin and is focused on aircraft cabinetry, monuments, and associated wire harnesses. Examples include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. Engineering includes installations for commodities along with necessary airframe modifications to meet load requirements of the interior installation. The position is intended to provide weekend coverage to support Operations and maintain aircraft build schedules, options for work schedules that meet this requirement are eligible for consideration.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and able work alone to solve problems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review and disposition of all manufacturing (production, completion, vendor) issues relating to material discrepancies, engineering data, and electrical harnesses.
- Determine root cause(s) of engineering errors and drive solutions back to the upfront engineering process to improve quality.
- Ensure Operations and Engineering are informed of all in-work issues that could impact the current aircraft schedule.
- Coordinate with other groups to assure design requirements and objectives are maintained.
- Create engineering data as required based on departmental needs.
Unique Skills:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in addition to strong project management capabilities.
- Liaison and/or MRB experience creating dispositions in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- EWIS experience preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD and CATIA V5.
- Knowledge of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR Part 25), as it pertains to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation procedures and the STC process as it relates to certification of Aircraft Interiors is a plus, but on the job training is available.
