About the role

Overview

The Wellness and Fitness Specialist serves as a coordinator and developer of the wellness and fitness initiatives available to our 800+ team members located at our EL Monte locations, while also providing remote support to all other PMG locations. The Wellness and Fitness Specialist is responsible for the development & implementation of the wellness and fitness programs offered by the company.  

 

The Wellness and Fitness Specialist has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Rate of $30.00-$35.00 depending on experience.

 

*This position is 100% on site at Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement wellness programs and activities designed to improve employee health and well-being.
  • Conduct fitness assessments and create personalized exercise and nutrition plans.
  • Motivate and encourage participants to achieve their fitness goals through regular check-ins, progress tracking, and goal setting.
  • Maintain and ensure the cleanliness and functionality of fitness equipment and facilities.
  • Keep accurate records and reports on participant attendance, progress, and program evaluations.
  • Establish relationships with all internal departments to increase involvement in wellness components.
  • Educate team members and strive for team member participation & engagement in wellness programs through instructor-led sessions, distribution of materials and one-on-one meetings.
  • Develop and communicate a schedule of classes to take place within the Longo Fitness Centers including, but not limited to Circuit Training, HIIT, Jujitsu, Yoga, Stretching and nutrition education.
  • Conduct and lead classes within the Longo Fitness Centers for Team Members of various levels of physical ability from beginners to competitive athletes.
  • Communicate wellness program offerings to leadership team and Human Resources and solicit feedback.
  • Coordinate off-site team wellness events, including, but not limited to, running races, bike races, group hikes, etc.
  • Develop and maintain activity calendar.
  • Comply with all HIPAA and ADA laws with respect to protected health information and discrimination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or 2-4 years of experience in the field.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 24hrs/week but to not exceed 30hr/week.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs/expectations of the department, team members, and management team.
  • Previous Personal Training experience: Certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with solid writing abilities and excellent demonstrated people skills.
  • High degree of self-initiation, organizational skills and problem-solving skills to efficiently plan and coordinate fitness classes, workshops, and events.
  • Ability to consult with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt and modify fitness programs based on individual limitations and health conditions.
  • Credibility, a classroom presence and excellent speaking and facilitating skills
  • Previous experience in planning and delivering fitness programs.
  • Strong knowledge of health and wellness principles and practices.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and age groups.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy guidelines in relation to participant information.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Physical fitness and endurance to demonstrate exercises and lead fitness classes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Strong work ethic with commitment to high energy performance, quality and service excellence
