We are looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Battery Management System team of electrical engineers developing the energy storage and power distribution system for our electric eVTOL aircraft. The goal of a BMS Electrical Engineer at Wisk is to design and develop the electronic assemblies controlling and monitoring the Battery systems, both low and high voltage, including the  power distribution and circuit protections. You will be part of ESPS IPT working with the integrated product team that ensures the entire energy storage and power distribution system works safely and correctly.

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View Headquarter office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. 
 

In this role you will design the key components of the battery management system for our Gen 6 aircraft. You will interact with other disciplines including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, system tests and others to make sure all aspects of the design are considered for a robust and safe design of our autonomous aircraft. You will support documentation efforts for the successful certification of the Gen 6 aircraft.   

What you will do:

  • As part of the ESPS IPT organization, and deployed in an the BMS team you will act as a staff BMS electrical Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market

  • You will take part in  the design of key components in our Battery Management system

  • You will support  other disciplines including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, system tests, safety and others in achieving a robust and safe design.

  • You will help support problem solving activities in design, integration and testing of our designs.

  • You will help coordinate design, verification, procurement of our equipment. 

  • You will take part in architectural decisions, design reviews

  • In some areas, you will be working closely with other IPTs such as Propulsion, Aircraft, Production, System tests and others.

  • You will plan and execute phasing of our design lifecycle to make sure we deliver on schedule. 

  • As a staff BMS Electrical Engineer, you will help define requirements specifications for our Battery Management System, support developing statements of work for our outsourcing, and participate in the interview process for new hires.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Electrical engineering discipline with at least 8 years of experience with the tasks listed above (M.S with 6 years of experience)

  • You have worked in the automotive or aerospace industry  

  • You have hands-on experience designing complex, safety-critical systems and solving associated problems

  • You have a deep and applied knowledge of Battery Management Systems, High Voltage systems, analog and digital electronics

  • You are familiar with PCBA design tools for schematic capture and layout. At Wisk we use the Altium design suite. 

  • You have experience implementing microprocessor, microcontrollers and FPGAs not only at hardware level, but also at software and firmware level

  • You have a good understanding of embedded systems and their related software and firmware concepts 

  • Experience with a rigorous development, verification, documentation environment similar to aerospace DO-254 and DO-160G is a plus.

  • This role will require up to 25% of travel
