Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, a prestigious and vibrant hotel located in the heart of Tempe, Arizona, is seeking a General Manager.
In partnership with Arizona State University, the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU features 330 guest rooms and suites, almost 40,000 square feet of ballroom, meeting and pre-function space, four food & beverage outlets including a roof-top bar, pool deck and retail space.
This position functions as the primary, strategic business leader of the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, responsible for all aspects of the operation, guest and associate satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales and revenue generation intended to deliver a return on investment to ownership. The General Manager leads the Executive Committee in the development and implementation of property-wide strategies and ensures implementation of brand service strategy and initiatives, with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest expectations. In addition, the General Manager builds relationships with guests, university administration and the community through personal involvement.
Responsibilties
• Build an effective executive leadership team by bringing a diverse group of individuals into high morale and highly effective units.
• Hires executive committee team members who demonstrate strong functional expertise, creativity, entrepreneurial leadership and critical thinking to meet the business needs of the operation.
• Management of all financial statements.
• Creates a cohesive leadership team and positive business environment that consistently delivers results
• Identifies key drivers of business success.
• Develops deployment strategies to market property in order to continue to grow market share.
• Supports the sales strategy by encouraging effective revenue management practices.
• Reviews sales goals and strategies to ensure alignment with positioning and pricing
• Reviews the STR report, competitive shopping reports and using other resources to maintain an awareness of the property’s market position.
• Works collaboratively with ASU and city/community partners to build strong relationships to aid the business objectives of the hotel
• Participates in university relations to create awareness and business development opportunities.
• Fosters an environment of integrity and trust.
• Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding property goals to produce desired results.
• Effectively handles problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
• Holds staff accountable for successful performance in a positive manner.
• Sets goals and expectations for direct reports.
• Creates appropriate development plans based on individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities.
• Conducts annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Fosters associate engagement to providing excellent service.
• Participates in daily Operations meetings to ensure strong and sustained interdepartmental communications, issue prevention and guest satisfaction.
• Participates directly in risk management issues and prevention including legal and workers compensation.
• Ensures accurate revenue, expense and labor forecasts and execution.
Qualifications
• 2-4+ years progressive experience as a General Manager in an upscale/luxury environment
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent communications and relationship skillset
• Able to motivate team to provide best-in-class customer service
• 5+ years of P&L responsibilities
• College Education preferred
