Job Summary

APRN: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems.

PA: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and or specialty medical care (the practice of medicine) in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions the collaboration agreement of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730) performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. PA's are privileged by the Board of Governors. PA's in the Hospital care role provide outpatient and/or hospital based care to patients (more than 50% of their time) with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. Outpatient/Hospital care PA's practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic health problems. Must have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

                         

Job Details

Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease Institute is currently seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time position with the General Surgery team at Wooster Milltown Specialty Center.  Some typical duties will include:

  • Simple procedures such as wound care and incision drainage

  • Post-op visits for surgical patients

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients scheduled for endoscopy procedures and collaborating with the healthcare team to prepare patients for endoscopy procedures.

  • Educating patients on pre-endoscopy instructions, dietary restrictions, and any necessary preparations.

  • Discussing and explain endoscopy results to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.

  • Developing and communicating detailed follow-up instructions to patients based on endoscopy results.

The hours for this position are Monday-Friday (roughly 8:00am-5:00pm) with no weekends, holidays or call.

Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.  Works in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
