You will be a great fit for this Principal Software Engineer role if you:
- want to use your technical skills to impact real people every day – Medtronic products are used worldwide to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life
- want technical ownership over your work and enjoy being involved in the entire software lifecycle (concept to landing)
- love working cross functionally with product, security, quality, regulatory, testing, and more while building real products
- have a track record of successfully building and landing modern cloud-based software using React, Typescript, Python, AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc.
- enjoy mentoring others through code reviews and jam sessions that are thoughtful and encourage defensive-coding patterns, best practices, and practical tradeoff decisions
- value scalable, available, maintainable, testable, observable cloud software
- execute independently and are comfortable digging deep into a variety of technical areas to provide technical leadership and architectural suggestions are a strong communicator, able to discuss technical topics with anyone from engineers through stakeholders
- hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline and 7+ years of experience (or 5+ years and an advanced degree) building enterprise cloud software
- have project management skills, including planning, estimation, and requirements management.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
- Determines systems software design requirements.
- Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
- Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
- May work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.
