About the role
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Onsite)
Location: North Hospital MOB – Psychiatry Department
Position Summary:
This role supports mental health services, where confidentiality is a top priority. This position will be the sole point of registration to handle check-in, check-out, and phone screenings. The position facilitates patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Responsibilities include:
- Collecting specific information to generate accurate financial and demographic records to support maximum reimbursement and optimal clinical outcomes
- Scheduling appointments and interviewing patients for appropriate medical information
- Explaining departmental and hospital charges and policies
- Validating and entering charges into appropriate systems
- Collecting necessary payments
- Answering incoming calls and directing patients and visitors appropriately
Medical office experience is strongly preferred to be successful in this role.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Preferred experience in a healthcare setting
- Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred)
- Ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
