We are seeking candidates for the position of Supervisor Fixed Assets (6236) in the Finance/Accounting.

Salary Range: Min: $79,534.00 - Mid: $99,424.00 - Max: $119,314.00

OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Maintains accounting control for SEPTA’s capital assets. Responsible for assisting the Departmental Director in the development of fixed asset accounting policies and procedures, including timely and accurate reporting of capital assets. Assist the Departmental Director in maintaining accounting procedures, manuals and controls. Provide input and recommendations related to internal and external audit requests. Supervise the work of fixed asset staff as directed by the Departmental Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the Department’s conversion of the Fixed Asset System to Infor’s CloudSuite Financials and Supply Management (FSM).
- Reviews monthly work-in-process (WIP) project costs and approves journal entries for capitalization of assets.
- Reviews and approves Fixed Asset addition reports to be used for input and analysis of Fixed Assets subsidiary ledger.
- Reviews and approves journal entries to recognize capital contributions from Federal, State and local authorities.
- Prepares adjusting journal entries to be recorded in SEPTA’s general ledger, as required.
- Reconciles Fixed Asset subsidiary ledger to WIP cumulative project cost report on a quarterly basis.
- Reviews inventory lists (listings of buses and trains (revenue vehicles), non-revenue vehicles and FTA defined equipment etc.). Develops and maintains frequent communication with inventory supervisors to ensure inventory lists are kept up to date.
- Reviews the reconciliation of physical inventory with the detail ledger. Assists Department Director with planning, coordination, and completion of the bi-annual physical inventory.
- Assists the Department Director with the preparation of the annual Depreciation Expense Budget for inclusion in the Authority’s Fiscal Year Operating Budget.
- Reviews monthly reconciliations of Capital Asset, reserve and contributed capital accounts.
- Reviews the Fixed Asset Three-way reconciliation, Asset Classification, Construction in Progress and Capital Asset Footnote for the Authority’s Annual Report.
- Assists with SEPTA’s fiscal year audit and other audits and reviews from internal and external agencies, as assigned by the Departmental Director.
- Develops and maintains fixed asset reporting to be distributed inter-departmentally and Authority wide.
- Serves as backup when Departmental Director is unavailable.
- Cross trains in certain operating grants and revenue accounting duties to be prepared to act in a supporting role in those areas if required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and five (5) years’ experience in an accounting environment required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
- Demonstration of strong analytical abilities required.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to accomplishing duties and goals required.
- Related experience in fixed asset accounting preferred.
