The Chargemaster Pharmacy Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing day-to-day support to end-users on Epic Revenue Integrity, Willow team, and Pharmacy Operations, as it relates to medication charges and billing, in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
The Senior Financial Analyst position duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Data analysis related to pharmacy items: charge volume, denials volume, reimbursement, error rates, impact statements
- Reviewing Pharmacy Specific Dashboard for KPI’s
- Completing audits related to Pharmacy charging, denials, and reimbursement
- Maintaining “Day in the Life” for the role
- Implement changes using documented procedures that are compliant with department’s policies and procedures
- Maintain up-to-date project documents for all initiatives that include technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables
- Monitoring hospital Epic Pharmacy CDM files (Willow/Charge Router/WQs) in accordance with regulatory guidelines (OPPS, APG, and other reimbursement methodologies)
- Working along side the data analyst, audit the charge master for both Willow and Ambulatory
- Responsible for work queues related to medication charging
- Help investigate charge and billing issues related to pharmacy items.
- Working with Pharmacy Department and Willow / Epic Ambulatory teams, ensure that pricing updates are taking place quarterly
- Working with the 340b Pharmacy team, ensure that new 340b purchases are flagged appropriately in the system
- Works with Pharmacy Operation, HIM, PFS, Finance, and other Departments providing them with knowledge and resources as it pertains to Pharmacy charging, coding, billing edits, and work queues
- Support fellow analysts as needed with work queue coverage and go live related reviews
- Work with corresponding IT teams to troubleshoot charge build issues, test and sign off before IT moves changes into production domain
- Bachelor or equivalent combination of education, certification (CPhT), and experience required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in inpatient/outpatient hospital pharmacy, preferred.
- Good understanding of CPT/HCPCS Coding knowledge preferred. Personal computer, data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing skills preferred.
- Preferable background as a pharmacy technician
- Good to have knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes.
- Epic certification
Skills:
- Advanced Excel mandatory
- Tableau, Alteryx, and other data analytics tool preferred
- Excellent ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results
- Ability to analyze highly complex systems and workflows
- Ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in health care and clinical operations in a health care system
- Ability to understand and adhere to operational standards, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of Epic Software as well as other information systems, clinical software, and computer applications used in a health care setting
- Ability to develop new skills and teach others
- Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude. Highly self-motivated, directed and change oriented
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $79,440.28 - $120,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
